I am going to make a scavenger hunt

out of QR Codes. Explanation:

Anyone can create a QR Code, which can contain anything from a URL or contact information to text or a geo location. Many smartphones comes with barcode readers installed that are capable of reading QR Codes, and there are apps for most of the ones that don’t; and there are free apps for any Mac or PC user that has a computer with a computer. Therefore, an increasing number of people are able to take advantage of these.

I go to school at a medium-small, fairly uneventful college (almost everything on campus is within 5 minutes walking distance) in a medium-small, fairly uneventful town (walking distance to places is a little longer…but not by much). Small and boring enough that people would have time for this. In January, I plan to print a number of QR Codes on labels and stick them around the campus.

There will likely be a communal time and location given for everyone to start. There will probably end up being a few different starting codes so everyone doesn’t follow each other, of course. Some codes may just contain GPS coordinates; others might have text riddles for them to solve; and others might have a unique URL to visit or a phone number to call in order to obtain some sort of info necessary to continue. They will all lead to [UNNAMED PRIZE – MAYBE IN A BIG TREASURE CHEST]. And then everyone will be happy and laugh a lot and celebrate.

It is 2:30 AM, but I wanted to share this idea before I fell asleep and forgot the whole thing.
